Pure Tone Audiometry
In case you have been suspected of hearing loss, you might be asked to go for the Pure Tone Audiometry test, which will allow the examiner to spot deficits and specific frequencies completely. Audiometer will be used to perform Pure Tone Audiometry. Simran Speech & Hearing Clinic uses different audiometer types for different types of functions, which will enable the tester to decrease or increase the sound intensity/frequency of the signal as required.
Pure Tone Audiometry is generally known as the threshold search or screening. There will be screening audiometry tones present, which will come across as 500 to 4,000 Hz. The upper limits given to adults are 25 to 30 dB, while for children it will be 15 to 20 dB. Your results are recorded as they pass, and the results will be deducted from the normal limits, which will be referred to as hearing loss, and if needed, there will be a repeated screening test done as
well.
Through the threshold test, the examiner will be able to know about the softest sound that the patient can hear. This test needs to be done by an expert only who can decipher the results. Simran Speech & Hearing Clinic has a recommended process to be done for Pure Tone Audiometry. The test will begin with the ear, which has a better hearing possibility. The tester will release a pure tone to the ear, which will be clearly audible.
